Pinewood Derby

Jim was out to sea (sadly) for the Pinewood Derby. That left me to take Christopher and help him. So, off we went! Christopher was VERY excited. I was a little scared. After all, what do I know about fixing and racing cars? But, I knew I had to help as much as I could. I had a moment of panic when Christopher's car was over the weight limit. But thankfully one of the men helped us out with that. With the car weighed in, we were all set to go! Christopher did very well. He raced 6 times overall, twice in each lane. He came in 2nd in every heat except one, that one he came in 3rd. He was very happy over all with his performance. Then came trophy time. I was nervous..I wanted him to get one, but at the same time, knew the odds of him getting one were slim. The speed winners were announced for the Tiger Cubs and Christopher was not one of them. They finished announcing all the winners for the dens, then moved on to the pack winners. Amazingly, Christopher's name was called as the 3rd place winner for craftsmanship. I was so happy for him! Then he found out that as the winner, he did not get to take his car home with him. He was heartbroken. He did not understand that winning meant he was going on to the next level. He is representing his pack at the Pinewood Derby for all the packs in our area in February. (And this time, Daddy will be there!)

So, congrats to my little man! I am very proud of him!
