The day after the twins birthday, we headed out for SeaWorld. We were excited but nervous. Poor Caitlin had started feeling under the weather on Sunday. She was running a fever, but had no other symptoms. She said nothing hurt and as long as we gave her some tylenol or ibuprofen, she was fine. So, we decided to take the trip we had planned anyway. We had a hotel booked and planned on spending the day at SeaWorld and then taking the kids to Aquatica the next day.
Here we are trying to check into the hotel, but it was too early, so we drove over to SeaWold.
Ah...we have arrived in SeaWorld. The twins were less than pleased about posing right here. They wanted to get right into seeing everything!
We headed right for the Sting Ray touch tank. The twins always LOVE going there and "petting" the Sting Rays.
Our first show was the Whale and Dolphin Show. Christopher and Caitlin enjoy that show every time we go.
We always put on some silly hats and "pose".
We were in the Shark display...Caitlin had a Barracuda right behind her head...she was not happy with me about it either!!
Here we are waiting for our FAVORITE show....Shamu! It was very strange this time. Since the death earlier this year of a trainer, none of the trainers swim with the whales anymore. While I understand this, it was very sad to see that missing. I always enjoyed watching the interaction between the animals and trainers. So did the kids!
Both of the kids in awe of the Shamu show!
We saw Manatees and Alligators. We fed Sea Lions. (I had a crazy bird swoop in and STEAL the fish right out of my fingers) We saw the Sea Lion and Otter Show..the kids both seemed to like that one and even got some of the silly humor from the show. We even managed to ride some rides. We played "peek-a-boo" with some baby dolphins at the dolphin nursery. We got new "stuffties" and ate some ice cream. We did not make it until closing time. Caitlin was worn out! So off the the hotel we went!
Our hotel was right across the street from SeaWorld. When we checked in, they told us that if we went to the pool deck, we could watch the fireworks at SeaWorld. So we threw our stuff in the room and headed down to the pool. Amazingly, Caitlin found her second wind to play in the pool! They had a very nice pool and the kids loved it. The fireworks were awesome! Then off to bed...we had a another long day of fun ahead of us!
Caitlin did not do as well at Aquatica. She was still feeling bad and as a result did not want to try any of the slides. Christopher and Daddy went off for some fun on the slides, Caitlin and mommy played in the lazy river and then found some deck chairs in the shade. Caitlin took a nap. She had a fun day, she was just tired and grumpy. Christopher LOVED the slides. I think his favorite was the Dolphin Slide. You go by yourself and slide down...you go through a dolphin tank. It was very cool! Here are pictures of the dolphins. We did not take pictures at Aquatica other than of the dolphins. And Christopher and Caitlin took these pictures for us! They have become good little camera people!
All in all, we had a great trip. I am very glad we did it. We plan on doing it again, but next time I think we will get the hotel for two nights and we will pray that both the kids are happy and healthy!!
