After running a fever for five days and not feeling 100%, we took Caitlin to the ER in Florida. Her eyes had gotten VERY swollen and red on Wednesday. And they were worse on Thursday. So off to the ER we went. For anyone who knows my daughter, you know this a fate worse than death. To say that Caitlin dislikes doctors is an understatement. She is terrified of them and as a result throws a HUGE fit anytime we have to take her to see a doctor. I was NOT looking forward to this trip, but was worried about my baby. We took her to the pediatric ER in Jacksonville. We did not wait long. They saw Caitlin and wonder of wonders, she did GREAT. They did a Strep test (negative) and then diagnosed her with adnovirus. Said it was pretty common although it is the first I have heard of it. Symptoms are fever, and red swollen eyes. No treatment other than ibuprofen and tylenol as needed and waiting it out. Yay! The good news? Good chance none of the rest of us would get it, she was not contagious anymore and we had seen the worst of it. She slept for about 14 hours that night, woke up Friday and looked 100% better!! So, here is my baby...at the ER with mommy and riding home after the ER with her "stuffties".
