A Visit FromThe Tooth Fairy

Last week, Caitlin climbed in bed with me to tell me her tooth hurt. When I looked at it, I realized we had our very first loose tooth. Caitlin was so funny about it! She was adamant that no one was going to pull her tooth out. She was also worried about swallowing it on accident.

Fast forward to a week later. We were at Girl Scouts and Caitlin was eating popcorn and grapes for the snack. She had showed me her tooth before the meeting and it was ready to fall out. I wanted to pull it, but she was ADAMANT that it was not to be touched. So, the meeting starts and we are 10 minutes in and Caitlin realizes her tooth is gone. Then she realizes that she swallowed it. Oh the DRAMA! (I love my little girl, but it was funny to watch her get so upset about swallowing the tooth) I calmed her down and then her worry was that the Tooth Fairy would not leave her anything because she had no tooth to put under her pillow. (We all KNOW that the Tooth Fairy would never miss a first tooth falling out even if there is no tooth!)

So, she went to bed, the Tooth Fairy visited her. She woke up this morning and came and climbed in bed with me. I asked her if there was anything under her pillow. She ran to check. She was THRILLED to discover two dollars under her pillow. She came running back to show me. Then she told me the the reason the Tooth Fairy came is that (and yes, this is a direct quote) "I slept with my mouth open all night so that the Tooth Fairy would see that I lost my tooth. That way she would stillcome visit me even though I swallowed my tooth."

Ahh...the intelligence of kids!
